HANNAH: 4 year-old Dalmatian Mix
Hannah, a four year-old Dalmatian mix, was a whirling dervish of activity. To channel her energy in a positive direction, her owner enrolled her in agility training. Hannah took to it with such vigor that she outdid herself, ending up with a minor leg sprain. In a effort to get Hannah to relax enough so that I could work with her, I used a technique where I placed gentle traction on her head and sacrum. This caused her to release the restriction in her body, and with a sigh she laid her head down on the floor, her eyes closed and soon she was snoring softly.
TIFF: 7 year old red tabby
Tiff was an enormous red tabby who developed an ear infection, that resulted in an ear hematoma (clotted blood outside a blood vessel). After it had been successfully treated, he returned to almost all of his normal activities. His owner noticed that he was increasingly reluctant to jump up on elevated surfaces and tended to easily lose his balance.
She brought him to me and I began by monitoring his craniosacral rhythm (the pulsation of his cerebrospinal fluid). Then I began addressing bones in his skull and sacrum (a bone above the tail). Little by little he improved, until his normal balance and jumping abilities were restored.
LIGHTNING: 2 year-old Jack Russell Terrier
Lightning was a one tough customer. He may have been tiny, but he was a dynamo who wouldn’t let anybody get in his way. Unfortunately this attitude didn’t stand him in very good stead when he leapt into the air and clamped onto a Frisbee at the same moment that the owner’s Border Collie did. Not one to relinquish his prize, he held on while the larger dog shook the Frisbee in an effort to dislodge the smaller dog.
Several hours later, Lightning started to exhibit soreness, hobbling slowly around. When his owner called me out, I found that there was quite a restriction in the fascia over his right ribcage—possibly where he curved his body during his wild ride. Once this area was released, I addressed other areas of his body that were compromised, and he gradually returned to his fiery self.
